Family Table Restaurant
About This Spot
Stepping into Family Table Restaurant, you’re welcomed into a warm, unhurried space that feels like a familiar gathering place more than just a spot to grab a meal. The pace here is easygoing, inviting diners to settle in and enjoy not just the food but the moments around the table—the quiet hum of conversations, the comfortable smiles exchanged by servers who seem genuinely glad to be part of your visit.
The atmosphere is simple and unpretentious, filled with the soft clatter of plates and the low murmur of conversations that make it clear this is a spot where local stories unfold alongside the meals. It’s casual and approachable, designed with families and friends in mind, creating a background where hearty meals become something more meaningful—comfort shared and enjoyed together.
The menu mirrors this down-to-earth mood with dishes that feel like they were made to satisfy cravings that linger from childhood into adulthood. Whether it’s the crispy, homemade onion rings or the savory warmth of a broasted chicken plate, each offering carries a sense of care and straightforward goodness. Breakfasts here—from fluffy blueberry pancakes to a generous, meaty skillet—are an invitation to slow down and savor a morning that lingers just a little longer. And for those moments when a cozy cup is needed alongside a meal, the cappuccino latte offers a gentle, familiar touch.
The service quietly supports this rhythm of ease and connection. Waitstaff move with a thoughtful attentiveness, striking a balance between promptness and respectful space, creating a sense that every meal is welcome and valued. Family Table isn’t a place focused on elaborate presentation or trendy dishes; it’s a place where the joy is in the simplicity of good food and genuine hospitality.
Visitors often find themselves drawn not only to the generous portions but to the feeling that this restaurant is a calm anchor in Spencer’s daily life—a taste of comfort, a place to reconnect, and a welcome pause in a bustling day.

Very nice place to eat at! Very good food! Best mushroom Swiss think I have ever had, only issue was they gave us country fried steak and we ordered country fried chicken, seemed to be a issue with them fixing the order all of them stared at us like we was the one who made the mistake, but they did fix it and was very good, not much talkers almost seemed to be bothered all in all food was delicious

We ordered the hungry man's platter with toast and two pancakes. We also ordered the beef on Texas toast with French fries. For the appetizer we ordered the cheese balls and 1/2 small onion rings. Everything came out in a timely manner and our waitress was attentive and personable. The atmosphere is family friendly and casual. We went just a little before noon, it was busy, but not crowded, and the service was still great. The food was spot on for what I would call diner food.

Staff was friendly, prompt, and accommodating for our group. Good was not and delicious, no complaints from our table. I recommend trying the Old Tyme Ham dinner and fried roll.

Good food! Updated nicely after the '24 flood. I ordered a patty melt with fries. Very flavorful. Fries very good & generous. Generous portions! Waitress did a nice job of waiting on us.

Believe it or not, we came from Ontario to Spencer to see the public library, where Dewey the cat as rescued 35 years ago. Decided to stay the night in town, and this sounded like a place we'd like to eat at. It would have been good, but unremarkable, except for the experience that our waitress provided. I'm sorry not to have caught your name, you're new (3 weeks) and was previously employed at a trick stop and currently have a pregnant kitty cat. This lady was a real character...perhaps for some tastes a bit too chatty, but we liked her down to earth friendliness and she made the evening for us. The food was great too! Good price, good selection and fast. Hot beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy, and a burrito platter. So good! Hey, thanks a lot for making our evening interesting! I hope you find a good home for the kittens. :)

Such a comfortable diner-like setting with table service. All-you-can-eat fish during Lent and Sunday buffets too. The onion rings are amazing! Lots of midwest fried deliciousness.

Atmosphere is very pleasant! The breakfast we had was very good and reasonably priced. Biscuits and gravy were tasting like homemade. This is our 3rd stop here. We will certainly stop again when we are in the area.
